- In 1990-1991, Prof. Oflazer completed training in Muscle Pathology at the University of Southern California, working on neuromuscular diseases with Prof. W. King Engel and Prof. V. Askanas.
- Became a faculty member of the Division of Neuromuscular Diseases in the Department of Neurology at Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine, and served as its director for 3 separate terms.
- Here, established the Muscle Pathology Unit in the Neuromuscular Diseases Research Laboratory and continued active work. Also directed this laboratory until 2014.
- Served two terms each as President of the World and European Unions of Muscle Disease Societies.
- Member of the World Union of Muscle Diseases and the Mediterranean Myology Union.
