Obtained Board Certification in Internal Medicine in the USA (American Board of Internal Medicine, 1977),the Michigan State Medical License, 1978 and Board Certification in Gastroenterology(American Board of Gastroenterology, 1979).
In 1981, the Internal Medicine specialty was registered at Istanbul University.
In 1982, obtained the title of Associate Professor from Istanbul University (external to the institution).
In 1986, was appointed as Associate Professor to the Department of Internal Medicine, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, and established the Division of Gastroenterology.
In 1989, was awarded the title of Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine.
In 1999, received the IstanbulMedical Chamber Science Award for scientific research and publications in gastroenterology.
