- Prof. Dr. Can Atalay, a founding member of the Breast Surgery Society, held the Presidency of the Society between 2014 and 2018. Currently the Society's Secretary General.
- Founding member of the SENATÜRK Senology Academy. Since 2013, has been heading the Basic Science, Translational Research & Biobanking Department.
- Obtained the title of Associate Professor in 2006 and Professor in 2017.
- At Ulusal Cerrahi Dergisi (Turkish Journal of Surgery), served as publication secretary between 2006 and 2014, Associate Editor between 2014 and 2016, and Editor between 2017 and 2019.
- At the Turkish Surgical Society, served as a Board member between 2012 and 2016 and as Treasurer member of the Board between 2016 and 2018.
- Founding member of the Ankara Breast Diseases Society. Served on its Board between 2007 and 2014, as President of the Society between 2011 and 2013, and as Secretary General of the Federation of Breast Diseases Societies of Turkey between 2011 and 2013.
- Received training in Oncoplastic Surgery at the Breast Clinic of the European Institute of Senology in Düsseldorf, Germany.
