- Graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2000 with honors.
- Between 2009 and 2011, completed a fellowship in corneal and ocular surface diseases at Harvard Medical School.
- Received the title of associate professor in 2012.
- In recognition of outstanding research, awarded a series of national and international awards (ARVO-Asia Travel Fellowship Grant Award, Gazi Eye Foundation “Best Scientific Article Award”, ARVO Collaborative Research Fellowship Award, ICO Helmerich Fellowship Award, ICO WOC Fellowship Award, Royal College of Ophthalmologists Best Reviewer Award, Turkish Academy of Sciences Outstanding Young Scientist Award).
- With the support of TÜBİTAK, TÜBA and ARVO, established an independent research group in corneal and ocular surface diseases.
- Member of the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), Tear Film and Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the Turkish Ophthalmological Society (TOD).
