- Completed residency at the Department of Neurosurgery, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, and became a neurosurgery specialist in 1982.
- Became associate professor in 1988 and professor in 1994.
- Since 2018, has served as adjunct professor at the University of Toledo.
